John Martin Garvey, 39, of the Kansas City Northland, passed peacefully, surrounded by family on July 28, 2021 at his home.
John was born April 4, 1982, in Marceline, MO, the youngest of four children of Denis and Barbara (Oldham) Garvey. He grew up in Brookfield, where he graduated from high school in 2001. John was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Dawn Lentz, on October 15, 2004. He received his Bachelor's degree from Missouri Western State University and was a Senior Project Manager/Estimator for Kissick Construction, where he worked the past 13 years. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of St. James parish in Liberty. Survivors include his wife of nearly 17 years, Jennifer; children, Jaxon, Morgan, Benjamin, Marie and Josephine; parents, Denis and Barbara Garvey; siblings, Lisa Sensenich (Phillip), Stephen Garvey (Erin) and Mark Garvey; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
John was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his kids and they along with his wife were his top priority. He cheered and supported his children in their various choices of clubs and sports, and enjoyed having epic chess battles and super smash bro competitions with them. His favorite past times were Friday night pizza parties with his family, patio date nights with his wife, hosting “Garvey-cues”, and making giant pancakes or biscuits and gravy on Saturday mornings (these were known far and wide in the Garvey household as the best around). John loved watching football, baseball, playing golf and was an all around lover of sports. He had many friends from the Brookfield/ surrounding area as well as from college and his job at Kissick Construction who were like family. John loved well, and was well loved.
