Marguerite E. Adair, age 90, passed away December 30, 2019.
She was born on May 29, 1929 in Carrollton, MO, to Charles & Tempy (Scott) Howard and was one of 11 children.
Marguerite married Gene Adair on October 6, 1945, in Kansas City. She worked for many years in the credit departments at Montgomery Wards & Sears. At the age of 50, she retired as the secretary to the credit manager at Sears.
Marguerite and Gene loved to travel and made it to all 50 states and a few other countries. They also were active ballroom dancers and did so up until their mid-80’s when Gene started his journey with cancer. She loved her family and friends near and far and was very good at keeping in touch and informing them of any upcoming special dates or events.
She was very involved in Eastminster Presbyterian church for 50 years. She later joined St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Independence, MO. She was part of the St. Luke's Church Busy Fingers group that sewed comforting stuffed animal pillows for the young patients at Children’s Mercy hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Gene; parents, 9 siblings & 1 grandson, Chip Adair.
Survivors include her children: Skip & Twila Adair, Gary Adair, & CJ Johnson & Daryl Beebe; grandchildren: Jason & Stacey Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Kristen & Tyrel Dawson, Chris & Rosie Latimer, Angie & Brandon Russell, Brandon & Amy Latimer; great grandchildren: Brittany Johnson, Tanner Johnson, Xander Johnson, Brooke Dawson, Chase Dawson, Payton Russell, Caydon Russell, Ashton Russell; and all of her many nieces and nephews that she so deeply cherished.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Park Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday.
