Alfred Dale Hopkins

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alfred “Al” Dale Hopkins Jr. on February 5, 2025, at the age of 92. A devoted family man, skilled locksmith, and deeply spiritual soul, Al’s presence brought wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith to all who knew him.

Born on October 26, 1932, Al dedicated his life to his craft as a locksmith, helping countless people with his steady hands and problem-solving spirit. His work was more than a profession—it was a way of serving others, always done with honesty and care. Beyond his trade, Al found strength and purpose in his spirituality, living his life guided by faith, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of prayer and following his heart.

Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Hopkins, in 2005; his daughter, Debbie Birch, in 2016; and his second wife, Erma Fox-Hopkins, in 2021. Al is survived by his loving family: his daughter Diane Glenn and her husband Terry, his stepdaughter Vicki Ingham and her husband Al, his stepdaughter Connie Fox, his daughter Kathleen Thomas, his daughter Susan Brewer and her husband Todd. He was also a cherished grandfather to fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to carry his legacy forward with love and gratitude.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM, with a graveside service immediately following.

Al’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His faith, generosity, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.
