Annette passed away on the morning of Jan 27th after a week of fighting sudden infection and sepsis caused by the gallbladder. Annette was no stranger to fighting illness. She persevered in her battle with Huntington’s Disease for ~30 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents David and Ellie Brasel and her brother Richard Brasel. She is survived by sisters Catherine Swinney and Debbie Anderson (husband Greg) and nephews and nieces Jeremiah (wife Brandi), James (also Ann’s birth son), Abigal, and Danielle.
Annette came under the care of Austen Dooley Company (ADC) in December 2012 residing in one of their Individualized Supported Living homes in Independence MO. She enjoyed activities and gatherings within her “ADC family” and ADC-supported outings within the larger community. Her “natural family” kept close ties with Ann also… whether it was jaunts to church with sister #1 or long rolling walks in her neighborhood with sister #2.
To say that Annette was an avid reader would be quite an understatement!!! No matter where she went, she’d have a book in tow. In the later stage of her illness, listening to audio books was a faint substitute for her “passion of printed word”.
Probably the one thing that was anywhere close to her love of books was her love of an ice-cold smoothie. She’d purposefully sip her way to the bottom of the cup delighting in the blended perfection. If given opportunity to invest, she’d likely sanction all funds to Smoothie King.
Cheers to you dearest Annette / Nett / Ann / Annie… we’ll miss you and love you always!
