Anthony “Tony” Herron, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at age 86 on July 16th, 2024. Tony was born to Mary Margaret “Margo” and Jack D Herron on August 20th, 1937 in Kansas City, MO and lived an amazing and cherished life.
Tony graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in 1955, and from there he held several different positions throughout the 86 years of his life; including his own business by the name of Tony’s Town & Country. It was at one of these positions, Air Freight Central, where Tony met the love of his life, Sherra. They married February 2nd, 1973.
Everyone who knew Tony knew his love of woodworking, crafting, and artistic ability. Tony had a deep love for Native American culture, Western/Cowboys, and animals as well; which can often be found within the crafts he made. Many of these crafts were given out to friends and family (especially his walking sticks)! These pieces were notorious enough to find a place at his doctor’s office and even a few museums (his Native American peace pipes specifically). Beyond his amazing creations, Tony loved to hunt, fish, camp (he and Sherra were even camp hosts), read, and watch the birds. Tony was known to all as a kind, compassionate person; but more so known for his antics and silliness.
Tony was preceded in death by both of his parents, his beloved wife Sherra, his son Anthony, Jr and his half-sister Betty Joyce Stearns. Tony is survived by his son Chris (Kelly) Herron of Topeka, KS; his son Gary (LeaAnne) Orlich of Kansas City, MO, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
