Helen Elizabeth (Beth) Austin

September 1, 1953 — January 28, 2022

Helen Elizabeth (Beth) Austin, 68, of Kansas City, MO, passed away January 28, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital after a brief unexpected illness.

Beth was born September 1, 1953, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Schuyler and LaVera Mack.

Beth graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1972, and received her bachelors and MBA from Park College (University).

Beth was united in marriage to Jerry Austin on October 28, 1972 and they were married for 27 years.  They had two children Ami and Clint.  Beth and Jerry remained friends until the end.

Beth's career was in many things over her life.  From her younger days when she was on a swim team and was a lifeguard where she carried her love of swimming throughout her life to the many years spent at Park College and Maple Woods Community College.  She loved spending time with all she met and truly loved spending time with her grandparents and family at her grandparents farm in Kansas.  Since retirement her time was spent loving her grandkids and could be found watching swim meets and on baseball and softball fields cheering on Haisley, Skyla and Warren. She was the biggest cheerleader for those three grandkids who were a part of her daily life.

Beth leaves behind her daughter, Ami Scholtes (John), Skyla & Warren. Son, Clint Austin (Melissa), Ezekiel and ex daughter in law Tara Leeper, Haisley and two cats.  She also leaves a brother, Kelly, sister Sara (Dan) and sister-in-law Lisa; as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephew and other family members.  Beth also leaves behind many “children” she always welcomed into her home and heart over the years who meant the world to her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends because Beth hated cold weather.  Memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
