Inez Louise Austin, 94, formerly of Lathrop, passed peacefully on September 14, 2018 at Oak Ridge Manor in Plattsburg.
Inez was born November 22, 1923 in Maysville, MO to Sarah and Harvey Redman. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1941. She attended nurses training in Kansas City after graduation. She married her high school sweetheart James Edward Austin on October 4, 1942. Inez and Jim coordinated the Maysville High School, class of 1941, reunions for 40 years. Throughout their married life Jim and Inez impacted the lives of many people. They lived in several states before eventually settling in Lathrop in 1957. While there, they were very active in the Lathrop Baptist Church, where Inez helped start the Children’s Church. Jim and Inez were members of their church’s Association and also participated in several missionary trips. She touched many lives serving the Lord. Inez was also active in Republican politics in Clinton County, supporting Jim’s run for US Congress in 1968. Inez was appointed Judge of Clinton County (now known as County Commissioner) in 1974 by Gov. Kit Bond.
Inez is survived by sons; James Jr. (Sharon) and Ronald (Rae) daughters, Becky (Jim) Hixson, and Mona (Ken) Bailey. 8 grandchildren; Doug, Paula, Jeanne Inez, Tamara, Staci, Brad, Sara, and Matt and 16 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by Jim, her loving husband of 67 years, grandson Brent, and great grandson Bo.
