Dolores Kathleen Ayers entered heaven the morning of December 9, 2019. Services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Park Lawn Funeral Home – South Chapel, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138 with Visitation beginning at noon, Celebration of Life at 1 p.m., immediately followed by Committal Service at adjacent Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dolores (also called Dee by close friends) was born October 21, 1931 to Roy S. and Lenna Kathleen (Wheeler) Cole. She graduated from Southeast High School. She married the love of her life, Ralph (Eddie), on July 20, 1951 and they shared 64 years of marriage blessed with eight children. Ralph and Dolores were baptized at Swope Park Baptist Church and later attended Birchwood Baptist Church. Dolores worked for the Independence School District Food Service for many years beginning in 1966 until the mid 1980’s.
Dolores, a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother, liked to cook and loved family gatherings. She enjoyed and loved each of her grandchildren. Her hobbies were crocheting, embroidery and flowers.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, brother Roy H. Cole and sister Shirley Sessom. She is survived by eight children: Kathy (husband Larry) Storey, Denise (husband Mike) Baker, Ralph Ayers Jr., Carol (husband Joe) Ulberg, Dwanna Fitzgerald, Alan Ayers (wife Brenda), Joy Ayers (partner Don Stewart), and LeRoy Ayers.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Kerri, Ben, Dennea, Brianna, Joe, Jason, Raymond, Roy, Eric and Jana; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Kansas City Hospice and the Villages of Jackson Creek for their assistance in her care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
