Barbara Jean Baker

Barbara Jean Baker, 89, Liberty, MO passed away June 25, 2024 at Liberty Hospital.  Memorial Services will be 6:00pm Monday, July 01, 2024 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church (205 N. Forest Ave, Liberty, MO 64068) Visitation will be from 5-6pm prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Barbara's memory be given to St. Stephen Lutheran Church or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137 

Barbara was born to James P. And Beulah E. Harper In Chillicothe, Missouri. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1940. She attended Northeast High School where she was an Honor Society Member. On a double date she met the love of her life, Thomas L. Baker, they were married on January 5, 1953, in Jackson County, Missouri, Celebrating 61 years of marriage.

 She was an Office Manager for Dave Cross Motors, in Lees Summit, Missouri, for over 40 years. Upon retiring, she went to work at Liberty Hospital Emergency Room in Admissions, working there for 15 years. After which, she volunteered, one day a week for 10 years in the Church Office at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Liberty, Missouri. Being the independent, self-motivated, strong-willed, people person, she was, there was nothing, she wouldn't or couldn't do. She loved to cook, bake, and read. Her passion was her Family and her animals, especially, Jack, Bruno and Max.

Barbara, was preceded in death by her, parents, sister and husband of 61 years. Barbara is survived by her five daughters: Karen L. Simpson(Mark) Brenda K. Wendel Tammy L. Markham(Allen) Lisa A. Hadley(Joe Murphy) Julie A. Hayes Twenty Grandchildren: Damon Wendel(Angela) Tom McCarthy(Ashley) Kathy Ray(Craig) Kim Holbrook(Eddie) Kelly Simpson Chris Markham(Danielle) Barb Henke(Kyle) Matt Hadley(Michelle) Aaron Hadley Kelsey Schmitt(Jake) Ryan Hayes(Taylor) Twenty-three Great-Grandchildren. Four Great-Great-Grandchildren. And many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
