Barbara Ann (Stenner) Carney

Barbara Ann Stenner Carney, 84, a longtime resident of Liberty, MO, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October, 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th, at Providence Baptist Church, 12206 N. Stark, Kansas City, MO 64167. A funeral service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18th, at the church. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Barbara’s memory with a memorial contribution to her church.

Barbara was born November 8, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of JT and Vivian Lane Stenner. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Blue Springs High School. She married and had seven children. Barbara worked at several jobs over the years and finally retired from William Jewell College after 16 years in food service. She was a long time member of Providence Baptist Church and enjoyed outings with the Apple Dumpling Gang at Providence and she was always there for VBS, Vacation Bible School. Barbara loved cross stitching where she made countless tea towels and baby quilts for the family. She enjoyed quilting the last several years and made lots of beautiful quilts, she enjoyed going to Beaver Lake with her brother and sister and riding in the boat, most of all she loved Christmas and hosting the family dinners and spending time with her family.

Barbara was preceded in her death by her parents and Son-In-Law, Randy Ray Cheek, October 22, 2021. She leaves her brother and sisters; Jesse Stenner (and wife Anita), Ester Ferrell (and husband Ron), and Linda Frick (and husband David). Seven Children; Cathy Mead (and husband Rob), Sandy Cheek, Patty Pederson (and husband Scott), Roy Carney (and wife Lisa), Mike Carney (and wife Karen), Laura Wood (and husband Shawn) and Jason Carney (and wife Lora Lynn); 13 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. 

Barbara will forever be remembered for her boundless love, her unwavering faith and joy she brought to all who knew her. She has left a legacy of faith, hope and love, and though hearts are heavy with grief, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is at peace with her Savior. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed!
