Martin Wayne Barnes, born March 6, 1959, age 61, entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2020 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Martin was introduced to Christ at an early age. Pastor Ricky Beach baptized Martin January 4, 2009. He was a faithful member of Maywood Baptist Church located in Independence Missouri for over 10 years. We can rest assured that Martin is living his new life with the Lord because as Romans 6:3-4 states, Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
For countless years, Martin dedicated his heart and time to assisting others in need by serving food at the Grace United Community Ministry at 9th and Benton in Kansas City, Missouri.
Martin had a passion for helping people without any thought of how they would repay him.
Martin was a caring and dependable person with many friends. His death comes with great sorrow, as many loved him. A person of his caliber is hard to come by. He would go out of his way to help anyone. However, this did not come without a lesson. Martin aimed to do more than just fix a problem; he wanted others to be self-sufficient. He was a man that would always put others ahead of himself. He was a servant of the Lord, doing right by his fellow man.
Martin enjoyed his leisure time. On many evenings, he could be found watching some of his favorite shows like wrestling or westerns such as Hee-Haw. Martin had many skills and abilities. He enjoyed tinkering on bicycles, mowers, and other things. He would take his completed projects to Swap and Shop to sell on the weekends. He always had a way to find the treasure in the simple things of life.
Martin was preceded in death by his mother Marlene Jean Barnes, his father Franklin Eugene Barnes Sr., his sister Judy Lynn Barnes. He is survived by his brothers Franklin Eugene Barnes Jr., Floyd Lee Barnes, his sister Marla Jane Carter, and his nephew Gabriel Lynn Barnes.
