January 11, 1925 — July 29, 2020

Janie Lee Barnett, 95, Belton, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Research Medical Center. She was born in Kim, Colorado, the daughter of Victor and Evelyn (Thornton) Waters. Janie married Elmer Barnett on March, 28, 1942. They had 4 children: Wylie (Ed), Randy, Jan and Gayle. They were married 63 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Elmer, 2 sisters, Lois and Jo, 2 brothers, Guy and Don, and grandson Scott.

They lived in Raytown, MO while their family was growing up, then moved to Peculiar, MO where they lived for 25 years. While living in Peculiar, Janie was a librarian at the Peculiar Library. After retiring, they moved to Archie, MO until 2016 when Janie moved to Carnegie Village in Belton, MO.

Surviving Janie are sons: Wylie and wife, Marla, Kansas City, MO, Randy and wife Anna, Kansas City, KS, daughters Jan Pieratt, Warsaw, MO, Gayle Quigley and husband Brian, Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren: Stephanie Buhler (Terry), Kim Carpenter, Randy Barnett, Jana DeLong (Jason), Jennifer Streeby (Kate), Cassidy Barnett, Jeffrey Quigley, Joey Quigley (Katie), Jared Quigley (Bethany); 9 great grandchildren: Lucas Carpenter, Lauren Carpenter, Branden Buhler, Cameron Buhler, Jaelinn Barnett, Landon DeLong, Leah DeLong, Levi Delong, Gannon Quigley; sister in law, Loretta Waters, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1PM, Monday, August 3 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association in her memory.
