James A. Bateman

James Allen Bateman, 79, of the Kansas City Northland, went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2021, at Kindred Hospital with loved ones at his side.

Jim was born October 13, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Herschel and Alicine (Johnson) Bateman. His parents preceded him in death. He was a graduate of North Kansas City High School. Jim worked 25-plus years in truck mechanics for Kenworth Trucking. He was a member of Bread of Life Christian Fellowship in Riverside.

Jim leaves his wife of 47 years, JoAnn; daughter, Michele Hooks (Wardell); sons, David Smith (Bonnie) and Doug Smith; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves sisters, Jackie Thorn and Darlene Stakely (Richard); brother, Gary Bateman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 13, at Bread of Life Christian Fellowship, 4619 N.W. Gateway, Riverside, MO 64150. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.
