Neoma Lorene (Burris) Beatty, 93, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away Friday, September 24, 2021.

Neoma was born on May 10, 1928 on her family farm in Bates County, Missouri to Thomas Ezra and Lena Dell (Koger) Burris. She went to Bryant School where she graduated from 8th grade in 1942. She then went on to get her GED.

In September of 1948, Neoma left the farm to move to Kansas City, Missouri and went to work at Massengill Pharmaceutical.

On May 26, 1957 they welcomed their pride and joy, Renee. They later made a home in Grandview before moving to Lee’s Summit.

After having Renee, Neoma became a full-time homemaker. In addition to raising Renee, she babysat many, many of her family and friends’ children.

Throughout her life, Neoma enjoyed spending time with Raymond on the Beatty family farm where they grew a giant garden and hosted many family bonfires. Neoma and Raymond opened their home to family holiday gatherings every year, hosting 35-45 people. She also spent many hours going to ceramics class and making treasured holiday ceramics for all her family members.
