Leta Louetta Bennett

January 30, 1927 — November 2, 2020

Leta Louetta Bennett, age 93, entered her heavenly home on Monday, November 2nd, 2020. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Funeral services will be held at Parklawn Funeral Home on November 6 with a visitation time from 12-1 pm, memorial service (outside) at 1 pm, and graveside service directly following at Green Lawn Cemetery.  COVID protocols will be followed with masks and social distancing.

Louetta was born on January 30, 1927 to Roy and Helen Stephens of Morgan County, MO. She graduated from Missouri Teacher’s College (later known as the University of Central Missouri), and began her illustrious teaching career in a one room school house at the age of 16. She retired in 1987 from Eastwood Hills Elementary School in Raytown, MO after teaching for 38 years. Louetta faithfully served the Lord for many years at Linwood Methodist Church, Spring Valley Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Greenwood and Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Darrell Bennett; as well as her parents, and 5 siblings- Violet Bennett, LV Stephens, Ruby Koesterer, Millie Chamberlain and Jack Stephens. Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Powell; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie Bennett; sisters and brother-in-law Marie and Aldie Morefield, Lula Bell Lading and Kay Neal; brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Candy Stephens; grandchildren Jenna Speaks, Tessa and Andy Addleman, Kerra and Travis Flatt, Lacey and Aaron Mears, Ethan Bennett and Mikki Bennett; and great grandchildren Blake and Brayden Speaks, Alivia, Andrew, Alaina and Amelia Addleman, Taylor and Beau Flatt, and Lilly and Ella Mears.

Service Information:

Visitation 12PM, service 1PM, Friday, November 6 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
