Betty Jean (Lyon) Blair, 90, of Liberty, MO, passed away April 16, 2022, at Ignite Medical Resort in Kansas City, MO with loved ones at her side.

Betty was born August 14, 1931, in Lexington, MO, one of two children of Robert Hunt Lyon, Sr. and Sadie Marie (Whitaker) Lyon. She moved to Liberty with her family at a young age and graduated from high school there. Betty was united in marriage to Calvin Blair on February 21, 1951.

Betty worked as a teacher's assistant for Northland Head Start before she retired. She was a very active member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she joyfully sang in the Chancel choir for many years, volunteered with the Children's choir, was a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Betty was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; daughters, Beverly Sasek and Martha Royal; granddaughter, Mica Nitsch; and brother, Robert Lyon Jr.

Survivors include two children, Jody Nitsch (Michael) and Robert Blair; grandchildren, Aaron, Bree (Mike), Courtney (Enrique), Dakota (Torie), Mariah (Dyllon), Dustin (Caitlin), Sam, Merrill (Liz), Jessica (David), Calvin and Kaci; 17 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Betty's life at 11:00 am, on Thursday, April 21, at Liberty United Methodist Church (Sunset campus), 1001 Sunset, Liberty, MO 64068. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Liberty United Methodist Music Department.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Betty’s life at 11:00 am, on Thursday, April 21, at Liberty United Methodist Church (Sunset campus), 1001 Sunset, Liberty, MO 64068. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Liberty United Methodist Music Department.
