Dwayne E. Blount

Dwayne Eugene Blount was born July 29, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri the second son born to Frank and Marjorie Jean Carliss Blount.  Both biological parents preceded him in death as well as his stepfather Benjamin Franklin Doyle, who raised him.  

Dwayne had no biological children, but he was married twice.  His first wife Gladys, died after they were divorced.  He then married Donna and she preceded him in death.  The following family members also preceded him in death: Eddie Carliss, Sr. (Della Allen Carliss), Eddie Carliss, Jr. (Hazel), Nathan Carliss, John Carliss, Theola C. Hines, (Fred), Inez C. Francis (Earl), Dorothy Patton, Mildred Deer,  Frank E. Blount, Gerald L. Blount (Eleanor), Billy Ray Carliss (Minnie), Patsy Ann Carliss Robinson, Stanley Doyle, Keith V. Hines, Gary L. Robinson, Joella L. Blount and Maxine Doyle Greene.

Dwayne was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and attended W. W. Yates Elementary School and Manuel High School.  He briefly attended community college in Iowa.  He worked as a construction and warehouse laborer and as a handyman.  He was baptized as a teenager and continued to acknowledge the spirit of God in his life no matter the circumstances he encountered on his life's journey.  He was a native of KCMO but he also lived in Des Moines, IA and Milwaukee, WI.  Dwayne enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, music, sports and having rich conversations.  

Dwayne passed away suddenly on Friday, April 23, 2020, at St. Luke’s Medical Center when an artery burst in his abdomen and surgery was not an option due to his pre-existing medical conditions.  Those left to mourn Dwayne's transition are:  Siblings: Larry Joe Blount and Debra Ann Doyle both of KCMO.  Sister-in-law: Tomalee Blount; Cousins: Robert Collier; Lillie Booker, Bernice Jasper, Darryl E. Carliss.  Nieces and nephews: Claude Bumpus (Cheryl) Des Moines, IA; Denise Bumpus Jewette, Des Moines, IA; William "Mickey" Bumpus (Riveria Beach, FL); Teresa Bumpus Hamilton (Pembrook Pines, FL); G. Rhonda Blount-Kennedy; Tynell A. Blount; LaRon W. Blount; Laura J. Blount Wilson; Dawn J. Blount Dudley (Craig); Michael D. Blount (Charlene); Saidah Blount (NYC); and a host of other relative and friends.
