Mary L. Boothe

October 12, 1953 — August 30, 2021

Mary Leona Boothe (Calef) was born October 12, 1953 in Kansas City, MO. Mary passed away on August 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She grew up in the Northeast area and graduated from Northeast High School. Mary lived in Northeast area with her parents (Harvey Calef - deceased July 6, 2003 and Marie Calef - deceased October 19, 2013) until 1989 at which time they moved to Grandview, Missouri to share a duplex with her grandmother (Babo). Mary was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, and a loving sister. Mary’s loves included, bowling, card playing, music, and volunteering. In the past Mary played piano for the Grandview Manor Care Center on a weekly basis. She did a couple of projects for the Rainbow Center and she made weekly phone calls to shut-ins in Grandview. Mary also donated her time to a local library as she loved books and reading.

After her mother’s death in 2013 Mary came to live with her sister, Pat Calef and close friend Phyllis Moore. In July 2016, due to health concerns, Mary became a resident of Oak Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation where she enjoyed her movies and often shared her collection of DVD’s with other residents or for viewing during “movie” nights. She was always ready for a word game or a good joke. Mary loved to smile and had a very positive outlook. Mary’s latest act of helping was to become a tissue donor and cornea donor for Mid-West Transplant. The family wishes to thank EVERYONE at Oak Grove Nursing for their kindness, compassion, and caring of their loved one, Mary.

Mary leaves behind sisters, Patricia Calef and Sharon Henrich (Norbert), and 3 nieces, 2 nephew, 4 great nieces, 6 great nephews, cousins and friends. If you wish to honor Mary a donation to your favorite charity, in her name, would be wonderful.
