Jr. Donald L. Brown

October 7, 1943 — February 14, 2020

On February 14, 2020 Donald Lawrence Brown Jr., loving husband, father, and grandfather went to heaven at the age of 76.

Don was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 7, 1943, to parents Donald Lawrence Brown Sr. and Marion Olson Brown.

Don graduated from Morgan Park High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed training to become a Missile System Analyst Technician, after which he was assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base where he completed his service, after which he attended Central Missouri State University and graduated with a degree in accounting. He started his career in public accounting, but later switched to cost accounting.

On August 26, 1967, Don married Lynn Eloise Howard. They were blessed with two children, Jennifer Lynn Brown Miller and Michael Lawrence Brown, and 3 grandchildren, Zach, Alicia and Drew.

When Michael became a Boy Scout, Don served as committee chairperson and treasurer of the troop. He enjoyed attending Scout camp with the troop and became a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say.

After retirement, Don started the self-titled “Grouchy Grandpa Babysitting Service” for Alicia and Drew.

Don loved to eat at Ginger’s restaurant, either for breakfast or lunch, depending on what time he woke up, but made sure to set his alarm Men’s Breakfast Group day.

Don was an armchair football analyst. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching the Chiefs play. He thought it was the best seat in the house. Unfortunately, he was in the hospital when the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl, and had to watch on a small screen TV. He wanted to be home for the bigger TV. When the game was over, he said “Unbelievable”.

Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Raytown Christian Church.
