Bunce, Michael S.

February 22, 1957 — June 7, 2022

Michael S. Bunce, 65, was called home to our Lord on June 7, 2022 in our home due to complications of liver failure.

Michael was born February 22, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas to Harold Eugene Bunce and Dolores Iolene Ewing and he grew up with his brothers Rick and John. As a teen, he loved riding his bike all over Gladstone, attended Boy Scouts and received the Eagle Scout badge, loved shooting pictures for the Arlington High School football games. Michael graduated from Arlington High School and immediately came to Kansas City to work for Payless Cashways as the service advisor and cashier assistant manager. That is where he met his wife Rose Benson of 43 years.

Michael worked a number of jobs from Sweet Lumber, Mac’s lawnmower, International paper, Nationwide Apartment Supply, Payless Cashways, (Turner store and Shawnee store) and his love of all jobs, DH Pace, where everyone came to him with their problems and he was able to figure all them out. His hobbies included watching NASCAR, Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Michael is survived by his mother, Dolores (Dee) Leake; brothers, Richard Bunce his wife Janet, and John Bunce; his wife, Rose Bunce; son, Eric A Bunce; daughter, Emily A Glasscock wife of Robert Glasscock; and grandson, Jackson Glasscock.

Funeral services for Michael will be held Wednesday June 22, 6:30 pm at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, MO in the Chapel. The service will be available to view on YouTube at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to donate to the Children’s Mercy Hospital for ITP research.
