Murrel William "Buzz" Buzzan, Jr., 73, of Branson West, MO, and formerly of the Kansas City Northland, passed away November 21, 2020, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO.
Buzz was born May 31, 1947 in Helena, Arkansas, one of three children of Murrel William and Margaret (Wilson) Buzzan. His parents preceded him in death as well as nephews, Jeffrey Michael McKinney and Larry Michael Hobbs Jr. Buzz was united in marriage to Freida Marie Fox on December 6, 1966. He served in the U.S. Army and fought for his country in the Vietnam War. He served from 1966 until receiving honorable discharge on June 27, 1969. Buzz worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad for 10 years, after which he spent most of his working life as an over-the-road truck driver. Once retired he and his wife moved to south Missouri at Kimberling City and later Branson West.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Freida, of the home; sisters, Carrol McKinney (Dennis) of Alpine, CO and Mary Meyers (Ron) of Broken Arrow, OK; as well as our beloved nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Buzz will lie in state from 11-11:30 am Tuesday, December 1, immediately followed by services with military honors on the front lawn of Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Because the service will take place outside, please dress appropriately for the temperature and wear a mask. Private committal services to follow at 1:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Folds of Honor or Wounded Warrior Project.
