E. Jean Caldwell

November 30, 1927 — June 6, 2021

Jean Caldwell, of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6th, 2021 at the age of 93, surrounded by her family.

Family and friends will honor her life at Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City MO. Visitation will be Thursday, June 10th, 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be June 11th at 1pm. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jean was born on November 30th, 1927 in Kansas City, MO and was the youngest of two children. Jean married the love of her life Ed Caldwell on March 3rd 1945. They raised five children together, enjoyed their eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Over the years Jean enjoyed sharing many cherished stories of her 20 plus years working in nursing as a CNA. Her passion for helping others carried over into her retirement years as a volunteer with many hospitals including Centerpoint Hospital where she received 'The Most Volunteer Hours' a record breaking award with over 19000 hours. Jean was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 44 years where she received the Silver Circle Certificate and Order of The Rose.

Jean was very talented in her many hobbies which she enjoyed teaching these talents to her children and grandchildren. These included her countless needlepoint works of art, sewing, an avid bowler, drawing and could always be counted on to crochet the most beautiful blankets, booties and hats whenever she knew a baby was on the way.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Jeanette (Caldwell) Claunch, Claudia (Caldwell) Cappo, Kathleen (Caldwell) Draper and son-in-law Stephen Draper and daughter Michelle (Caldwell) Dixon; grandchildren Deanna (Claunch) Rutland, April (Caldwell) Phipps, Anthony Cappo, David Caldwell, Jeffrey Barker, Valerie (Claunch) Friess, Sherry Cappo, Ronelle Dixon, Copper Wells and Preston Wells; along with many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and a nephew.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ed, sister Tootie Dow and brother-in-law Alan Dow, son Richard Caldwell, son-in-law's Lloyd Claunch, Paul Cappo, grandson-in-law Paul Phipps and niece Mary Jean Dow.

Pallbearers include: Cooper Wells, Preston Wells, Aaron Phipps, Josh Caldwell, Zachary Leon and Cole Friess.

Honorary Pallbearers: David Caldwell, Anthony Cappo, Jeffrey Barker and Steven Draper.

Service Information:
