John O. Campbell

John Owen Campbell, 96, a longtime Liberty resident, passed away September 23, 2019, at Oak Pointe of Kearney, MO. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am, on Thursday, September 26, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 205 N. Forest, Liberty. Burial with military honors will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.

John was born May 24, 1923, in Nashville, TN, the third of four children of Frank S. and Lela Marie (Moore) Campbell. He served in the US Army Air Corps from February 13, 1942 until receiving honorable discharge as a Corporal on January 25, 1946. John was united in marriage to Nancy Sellers in 1946. His career in Navigation and Communications with Trans World Airlines spanned 28 years until he retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and the VFW.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by children, John F. Campbell, Margaret S. Campbell and Richard E. Campbell; and siblings, Frank S. Campbell and Rebecca A. Chilton. Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Campbell; children, Rebecca J. Schope (James) and Terry L. Campbell (Deborah); daughter-in-law, Cindy Mowrer Campbell; brother, Thomas Campbell; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am, on Thursday, September 26, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 205 N. Forest, Liberty. Burial with military honors will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
