Carol J. Hart on October 2nd, 2024, the world lost an amazing woman. Carol J. Hart, age 82, of Lathrop, MO, passed peacefully and surrounded by family after her yearslong battle with Alzheimer’s.
She is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Carol’s goal in life was to get married and have babies. She fulfilled this dream not long after graduating from Unionville High School. Carol was the most amazing mother to her three daughters. As a mother, she imparted much valuable advice to her girls such as the value of a dollar, how to save for a rainy day, and how to cook. And some not so valuable advice like don’t leave the house without makeup, the higher the hair the closer to God, and the calorie count of every food ever consumed.
After fulfilling her dream of being a mother, Carol eventually went to nursing school and received her Licensed Practical Nurse certification. She went to work in management in a doctor’s office until her retirement when she became a nanny to one of her grandsons which may have been her favorite job because she got to dress him up in multiple outfits a day and take thousands of pictures of him. After being a “girl mom”, she was a good sport about learning about “boy world” including tricycle races in the basement, throwing countless balls of all types and foot races in the driveway. She had some of the happiest years of her life leading up to her diagnosis. Carol achieved “notoriety” in life in her later years. The Kearney McDonald’s dubbed her “the Cheeseburger lady” and gave her her own key on the register (“CB lady”) to ensure her order was correct due to her very specific and daily order of a McDonald’s cheeseburger. The Lathrop Garden Club awarded her “Yard of the Month” on multiple occasions for her beautiful flower gardens where she enjoyed so many hours of tending to her prized peonies, hostas and other favorite flowers. Carol was a tiny woman with a big heart and was loved by all who met her. Her capacity for unconditional love was boundless and made the world a better place. A wonderful mother and thoughtful friend, Carol will be greatly missed.
A private celebration of life will be held, and Carol will be interred at Unionville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent in care of K. Porter, PO Box 744, Liberty, MO 64069. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
