Carol Louise (Phillips) Richmond passed from this Earth on September 11, 2024. Born on November 19, 1933, in Hamilton, Iowa to Hazel (née Lee) and Rodney Phillips, she was the eighth of nine children. After graduation from nearby Lovilia High School (Iowa) in 1951, she moved to the “big city” of Des Moines to begin her working career. On January 9,1954, she married Clarence Richmond at St. Peter’s Church in Lovilia. Clarence and Carol moved to Waterloo, Iowa shortly thereafter, where she became the proud mother of four children (Mike, Debbie, Paul, and JoAnn). In 1965, the family moved to Missouri, eventually settling in Liberty. After Clarence and Carol’s retirement, they spent winters in Arizona and traveled with family and friends. In 2005, they returned to Iowa and their hometown of Lovilia, where she remained until 2021. Carol spent the past three years in Liberty until the time of her passing.
Carol was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved crossword puzzles, traveling, eating out, spending time with her family and trying to be funny.
Carol leaves behind four children Mike (Nancy) Richmond, Debbie (Jess) McMillen, Paul (Susie) Richmond, JoAnn Oatman (deceased) and seven grandchildren (Emily McMillen, Jenny McMillen, Christopher Harris (deceased), Amber Schlicht (Will), Jessica Eckley, Kurt Richmond (Jessahanne) and Aaron (Rachel) Richmond) as well as eight great-grandchildren (Jesse McMillen, Nevada Eckley, Violet Richmond, Briggs Richmond, Lily Richmond, Wade Schlicht, Logan Schlicht and Scarlet Schlicht).
A family graveside ceremony for interment of Carol’s ashes will be held on October 12, 2024, at the Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri for immediate family and friends.
She will be deeply missed.
We love you, Carol!
