Carolyn Elaine Albert, 88, passed peacefully on March 16, 2023, at Laurel at Norterre in Liberty, Missouri.
Carolyn was born January 22, 1935, in Jersey City, NJ, the eldest of two children of Carlton B. and Bernice (Guilford) Sixbey. Along with her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard G. Cook and Calvin Dale Albert; and brother, Thomas G. Sixbey.
Carolyn earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Her career in music education spanned more than five decades. She taught private voice and piano, as well as college level voice at University of Texas at Arlington. She later taught elementary music in Girard, Kansas, and finally at Turner School District in Kansas City, Kansas. Carolyn was a member of Unity Church in Lee’s Summit.
Carolyn leaves her children, Lisa Balkom (Michael), Alice Cook and Carl Cook (Kayl); grandchildren, Cecelia Osborne (Greg) and Scott Cook; step-children, Teresa Martin, Penny McCracken and Michael Salmons (Bessie); step-grandchildren, Jeff, Kevin, Victoria, Amanda and Samantha; three nephews and their families; as well as other family members and friends.
Private burial at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
