Caryn Yvonne Thompson passed away on Tuesday January 7th, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 20th, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. The only daughter of the late Ronald and Evelyn May. Her parents named her Caryn, which was the most fitting as she focused her entire life on “Caring” for others. No better word could sum up who she was.
She grew up in South Kansas City along with her two brother’s Larry and Dennis May. She attended Grandview Senior High School where she would meet the love of her life, Ronald Thompson. The couple dated each other exclusively and she would graduate in 1966. Recognizing how special she was, Ronald soon proposed, and the beautiful couple were married on April 29th, 1967. They went on to have four children together. They raised their family in South Kansas City, purchasing their first home in Ruskin Heights before eventually settling in Raymore, MO for the majority of their life.
They spent much of their life traveling the world together. However, she was always happiest with her toes buried in the sand of a warm beach. She cherished the times when her adult children and grandchildren would accompany them on vacation.
She will be missed most by her devoted husband of 57 years. Her legacy is carried on by her children Brett Thompson along with his wife Lisa and their two daughters Aleesia and Evelyn; Kurt Thompson and his two sons Gage and Coen; Melinda Snelling and her daughter Kelsee as well as Kelsee’s daughters Iris and Rori; Tricia Toska and her husband Mike and their son Michael.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
