Helen Lou Titus Cauthon, 92 years young, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Wilshire Lakewood Care Center. Funeral services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 850 SW State Route 150, Lee’s Summit, Mo. on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Friends and family may visit before the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow after the service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Helen was born one of four children to Otis F. Titus and Gladys V. Hurst Titus on January 8, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri. She was married to Virgil L. Cauthon on October 30, 1945. To that union God gave 2 sons and 2 daughters, Robert Riley Cauthon (deceased), V. Jeanne Cauthon Bryant (Keith), Ronald Dean Cauthon (Anna), and Kathy Lynn Cauthon Foster (Kevin). Later, Virgil and Helen added another daughter Christina Charyce Cauthon McMillin (James), granddaughter by adoption. Helen left 24 beautiful grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, 1 brother, Otis Titus, Jr., 2 sisters, Peggy Steffe, and Jerry Elmore. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she nurtured, loved and cared for all her life.
Helen lived most of her life in the Kansas City area after leaving Joplin. She was a lab technician at Bio-Search and Development Company. She was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Temple from 1955 to 2012 until she moved to her daughter’s home in Lee’s Summit, Mo and became a member of Grace Baptist Church. There, she loved helping produce Bibles for the military and missionaries.
Helen suffered with Alzheimer’s for the past 10 years and had lived at Wilshire since December 2015. She was under the loving care of many nurses and aides there and through Ascend Hospice.
The family is asking donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
