Edith Rhea (Landiss) Cavin

Edith Rhea (Landiss) Cavin, age 101, of College Station, Texas passed away on Sunday January 6, 2019. Edith was born November 25, 1917 in Stewart County, Tennessee to Ollie Louise and Clarence Walter Landiss.

She and her brother Carl W. Landiss and family moved to Kansas City, MO when she was 2 years old. At 16 years of age, she attended Abilene Christian University, then graduated from Kansas City Business College the following year. She completed her degree in Business Administration at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

She met Lonnie E. Pryor, Jr. at Harding and they were married later in Kansas City, MO. Lonnie passed away unexpectedly in their 2nd year of marriage from complications of diabetes.

She met her wonderful husband Kay Thomas Cavin at the Church of Christ in Kansas City, MO and were married for nearly 50 years.

Edith worked 30 years for the Federal Aviation and Social Security Administration in Kansas City, MO.

Edith, Kay and her mother Ollie Landiss moved to College Station in February 1976. Edith and Kay lovingly cared for her elderly mother until she passed away in 1990.

Her husband, Kay and her brother Carl passed away the same day in 2006. She also lost her infant brother William Madison Landiss in 1911 when he was just 3 days old.

Edith is survived by her niece, Carolyn and Buddy Graves of Waco, and their son Bryon Graves of Houston. Also, her nephew, Bill and Janice Landiss of Giddings, and their 2 daughters, Suzanne and Ian Powell of Alburquerque, NM, and Caroline Landiss and her daughter Dakota Belle Landiss of Giddings.

She was affectionately cared for by Amadita Martinez and her family. Blessings to Amadita.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 10th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 15th at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
