Verdean E. Chapman

Verdean Ellen (Sexton) Chapman, 82, a longtime Liberty resident, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2022, at Liberty Hospital, with loved ones at her side.

Verdean was born September 3, 1939, in Albany, MO, the youngest of four children of B.H. and Berneice (Jeffries) Sexton. Along with her parents, Verdean was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Bill and J.W. Sexton.

Verdean grew up in Albany and graduated from high school there. She was united in marriage to Wilbur LaVern Chapman in 1957, and they are blessed with two children, Max and Wanda. Verdean and Wilbur moved to Liberty in 1960.

Verdean worked several years for ReMax in Liberty. She was a member of Kansas City Church for 29 years, where Wilbur served as a board member and they both served as Elders. Verdean also served as Financial Secretary of the church.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Wilbur; children, Max Chapman (Barbara) and Wanda Ramireddy (Rami); grandchildren, Nilasha and Nick (Katie); great granddaughters, Aubrey and Braylee; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Verdean's funeral service will be via livestream due to COVID concerns. Friends are encouraged to join her funeral on Saturday morning, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 am from the Facebook page of Kansas City Church. Family only will attend the service in person. Private burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.
