Larry Garland Collins, 83, of Lathrop, MO, passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2022, at his home.
Larry was born December 23, 1938, in Argonia, KS, the son of Otto Oren Collins and Alma Gilstrap Collins. He was united in marriage to Cora Lea Rice on June 11, 1960. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Jr., Lori and Curtis. His career as an assembly worker at the Ford plant in Claycomo spanned 31 years until he retired in 1992. Larry was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Kearney, the Knights of Columbus in Plattsburg, and UAW Local 249.
Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Cora, just 23 days ago. He was also preceded by sisters, Erma White and Shirley Kissire, and brother, Virgil Mahaffey.
Survivors include his children, Larry Collins, Jr. (Judy), Lori Collins and Curtis Collins (Nicole); grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, Michelle, Cassandra, Jonathan, Cody, Ashley and Curtis Lloyd; 15 great grandchildren and his first great-great grandchild on the way. Larry also leaves a sister, Brenda Ingram, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, December 6, at Church of the Annunciation, Kearney, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. Memorials in Larry’s name are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
