Robert Eugene Collins

February 19, 1930 — March 3, 2019

Robert Eugene Collins Sr., 89, of Grandview, MO, passed away on March 3, 2019. He was devoted to his family and he confessed with his mouth and believed in his heart that Jesus Christ was Lord and his personal Savior.

Bob was born to John Edward and Nina Lorraine (Halbert) Collins Sr. in Kansas City, MO on February 19, 1930. He served 8 years in the US Naval Reserves and loved his country - flying the US flag everyday at his home.

His compassion for others was evident during the 47 years he served the special needs of students at R.J. Delano School in KC. He was an Eagle Scout, Troop Leader, and Scout Master of Troop 279 posted at First Baptist Grandview, MO.

Bob married Alice Audrey Taylor on July 13, 1957 in Jonesboro, AR, and he wooed her every day thereafter. They were founding members of White Ridge Baptist Church (now Longview), and then attended First Baptist Church Grandview. Bob showed his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his time, his efforts, and his active interest in what was important to them. He was an artisan and craftsman in leatherwork, acrylic paint, and charcoal. He also loved listening to his grandchildren play their instruments; and, of course, everything Irish.

He marveled at God's creation and His creatures, often taking his family camping at the spur of the moment. He enjoyed hunting with his recurve bow and muzzleloader. His entire adult life he supported a school in Montana for the Crow and Northern Cheyenne tribes.

Bob is survived by his wife, Alice; his cousin Bob J. (Betty); his children Bob Jr. (Rosa), Daniel (Teri), and John; his 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Edward Jr., and his parents.

A funeral service will be held March 9, 2019 at 3 pm at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City Mo 64138. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Gideons International PO Box 97251 Washington, DC. 20090 to purchase KJV Bibles.
