Joseph “Sam” Comesano

December 11, 1957 — May 30, 2022

Joseph Samuel Comesano “Sam” passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022. He was born December 11, 1957 in Tampa, Florida. He grew up in both Ottumwa, Iowa and Tampa, Florida, graduating from Middleton High School in Tampa in 1975. Sam was a longtime employee of the Railroad and in the most recent years worked at General Motors and then as a contractor. Sam really enjoyed his Budweiser and loved the Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes! You could definitely find him watching football on the weekends and if not football then some baseball or a good western show. He always kept up on his grandchildren and how they were doing in softball and baseball, checking every weekend for new stats or accomplishments. Sam loved his family and friends.

Sam leaves behind a daughter, Amanda Comesano (Cal Newman) and his grandchildren, Ainsley and Alden Comesano in Keller, Texas; a brother, Danny (Lori) Comesano; and two nieces – Megan and Katie, all in Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Judy Edwards (Larry) in Tampa, Florida; step daughters, Angela Boulware in Kearney, Missouri, Victoria Golightly (Keith Smith) in Kansas City, Missouri, Jeanna Whitson (Bill Heitman) in Kansas City, Missouri; seven step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ardena Marie (Larson) Comesano; his father, Joseph Comesano; a sister, Lila Marie Comesano; another sister, Catherine Rusdal; his wife, Linda Comesano; and two Pomeranians Roscoe and Roxy.

A celebration of life will be held later this Summer in Kansas City Missouri.
