He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Conner, his brother, Al Conner, and parents, J. Theodore and Hazel Conner.
Jerry was a Fighting Viking at Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduation, the Army called him to service for WWII. When the war ended a couple of months later, he went to college and got a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Most of his career was with the United States Government working for the National Weather Service, IRS, OSHA (with a focus on grain elevator explosions), and the Department of Energy, working on the Strategic Oil Reserve in Beaumont, Texas. Jerry loved camping and spending time with his family at their summer cabin at Lake Lotawana, where he kept a boat. The first one was a wooden sailboat, whose value was increased by placing inner tubes under its deck to keep it from sinking, then a small speedboat that the boys learned to ski behind. As the family grew, the size of the boats also grew too, leading to an 18-foot inboard/outboard and finally the current 21-foot Sea Ray. Jerry wanted to make sure that the following generations had something to ski behind.
