Patsy Lou Cote

May 14, 1938 — January 8, 2019

Patsy Lou (Biglow) Cote, age 80, of Belton, MO, passed from this life January 8, 2019. She was born May 14, 1938 in rural Anderson, MO to Murph Biglow and Minnie (Conner) Biglow. She graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in May, 1955, two weeks after her 17th birthday. She attended one year at Southwest Missouri State College before moving to Los Angeles, CA and enrolling in El Camino College. Her higher education was cut short by a tragic car accident on September 7, 1957, which left her with a traumatic brain injury at the age of 19.

Pat engineered her own physical exercises in order to overcome her disabilities since in those days, Physical Therapy was not available. She worked for some time in Nursing Homes caring for the elderly. She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City for many years and then finished her career at Belton Regional Hospital. Pat loved to work, and caring for others validated her ability to care for herself as well. She was very independent and never applied for disability or asked help from others. After retiring, her passion was reading, gardening, planting flowers and caring for her yard.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Murph and Minnie Biglow; and her husband Joel Cote. Pat is survived by her two sisters, Janet and Marvin Pennell of Springfield, MO; JoAnn and Lee Greninger of Campbell, TX; and one brother, Murphy and Joan Biglow of Anderson, MO. Pat is also survived by her three sons, Roger and Terri Cashman of Grandview, MO; Robert Biglow of Noel, MO; and Michael Cote of Grandview, MO. Pat has five beautiful granddaughters and three darling great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Heartland Home Health Care and Park Lawn Funeral Home of Kansas City, MO for the wonderful care given to Pat and the kindness and support given to her family.
