Melvin “Mel” Lyle Craft, 84, a resident of Independence, Missouri passed away at Centerpoint Medical Center on February 10, 2021 with family at his side.
He was born on March 19, 1936 to Fred and Martina (Perry) Craft in Sault Ste Marie, MI.
Mel was a handy man by trade. He could build or fix anything and was always helping others with projects. He loved the water and going for long drives. He had a great sense of humor and cared about others with a huge heart. His favorites were hot dogs and Lay’s potato chips. He loved being around family and talking about pretty much anything. He regularly attended Blue Springs Church of the Nazarene.
Survived by sons Curtis Craft of Farwell, MI, Dennis Craft of Blue Springs, MO; daughter Pattye Harris (Bill) of Toronto, ON; Step-Daughter Linda Shriver of Blue Springs, MO; and Step-Son Kieth Rippel (Lynn) of Kansas City, MO, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Joyce Ann Craft, his parents, Fred and Martina (Perry) Craft, and his sons Christopher Craft and Michael Craft.
Mel will have a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11 am at the Blue Springs First Church of the Nazarene, 2801 SW Walnut St., Blue Springs, MO 64015.
