D. Gail Horton

D. Gail Horton, 85, passed away May 20, 2023.  

Born: 10/8/1937 in Kansas City, MO to Lloyd E. Cline and Dorothy Cline 

Loving wife to Richard F. Horton for 61 years.  Loving mother to four children: Catherine, Steve (wife Becky), Todd and Beth Horton

Loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Richard, Stephanie, Taylor, Rachel, Savana, Stevie Horton, Dustin and Traver Marks.  Loving great grandmother to nine beautiful children.

Gail loves God, she knows God and prayer are always the answer. She loved attending Summit Church in Lee’s Summit with her especially sweet friend, Marge.

She loved being a nurse supporting physicians in providing compassionate care for their patients as well as a valued friend with her co-workers for nearly 30 years and met one of her best friends, Peggy Mason. In her retirement she volunteered to help patients with John Knox Hospice visits. 

She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She played for church services for many years as well as for any family that wanted to sing along, The Sound of Music was one of her favorite songbooks.

Gail was loving in all she did. Her heart’s desire was to care for others, whether enjoying visits, sharing homemade cookies, feeding her widowed neighbors, helping family through hard times or writing thank you notes for every kindness she gratefully received. Her life was a life dedicated to love in action.

Visitation will be 12PM, with services to follow at 1PM, Tuesday, May 30 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
