Dana Marie Haines

d. April 17, 2023

On April 17, 2023, Dana Maria Haines passed away at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long battle with cancer.  She was 51 years young.

Dana is survived by her husband Chad C. Haines; her three children Kayla Maria Christopher (Brad) of Kearney, MO, Colton C. Haines (Drew) of Kansas City, MO, Alexandria Shea Gorman of Kearney, MO, granddaughter Kendall Maria Christopher, mother Belle Sanchez Welk of Pensacola, FL and her brother David Welk (Viko) of Jakarta, Indonesia.  She was preceded in death by her father John Lawrence Welk of Pensacola, and her younger sister Anna Elizabeth Gorman (Chris) of Puyallup, Washington.

Dana and her daughter Kayla welcomed husband Chad into their small family, married on August 1, 1998.  Together they had a son Colton.  When Dana’s younger sister passed away from cancer in 2012, Dana and Chad became guardians of their niece Alex, completing their immediate family.  Dana graduated with a degree in Accounting from UMKC in 1997, and immediately was hired by Children Healthcare Corporation of America (CHCA) eventually becoming Controller.  After 22 years with CHCA, Dana retired to spend more time with Chad and their family, supporting him with the family business.  In her spare time, she loved spending time playing tennis with her supportive and loyal friends at Clayview Country Club, and pickle ball with anyone that could hold a racket.  Even though racket sports were her passion, family was her hobby.  Forced family fun was her motto, and if the family was at their home on Lake of the Ozarks she was even more militant in its implementation.  She could sit and play games for hours on end, often outlasting those much younger.  Dana enjoyed traveling the world, sharing her trips with close family and friends.

Dana, true to her nature, battled her illness until her last breath.  At her side throughout her cancer journey was her husband Chad more than exceeding his “in sickness and health” wedding vow.
