W. Marcum Sr. Daniel

Daniel Wilber Marcum, Sr., age 79, Lee's Summit, MO, passed Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at home surrounded by family. He was born September 21, 1942 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Dude and Wilberene Marcum. He married Susan A. Hunt on December 19, 1964, at Holmeswood Baptist Church.

Dan was a graduate of Southeast High School class of 1961. Football was his first love; he lettered at every sport he played. He was a Little All-American, played football for William Jewell, and graduated from Jewell in 1965. He met his wife, Susan, at Southeast; on their date he asked her to walk around the block and he carried her. He held several leadership positions in business and technology sector including executive HORL vice-president.

He is survived by his forever love, Susan Hunt Marcum, of the home, sister, Ann Bass, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Francine (Larry) Whited, daughter, Rebecca (David) Parker, daughter, Kristina (Rich) Kempin, and son, Daniel (Linda) Marcum, Jr.; 6 grandchildren: Cierra, Jack (fiance Kayla), Ainsley, Alyssa, Natalie, and Brad; and 1 great-grandchild, Maya, who summed up how we all felt with her name for him: “One.” Another great-grandchild is due in June. His parents and infant son preceded him in death. He was a loving and cherished uncle and cousin. He was a member of Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be 1PM, December 23, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to City Union Mission.
