Debra Lynn Buckalew

Debra Lynn Buckalew, 64, of St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away on March 31, 2024, in her home that she shared with her daughter and grandkids, and made her grand entrance into Heaven where she can watch over them all.

Miss Debbie was born September 9, 1959, in Charleston, West Virginia. One of eight children to Emmett G. Pennington and Dinora Virginia Pennington. Along with her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her sisters, Gail (Pennington) Guy and Linda Turley.

Debbie spent most of her younger years growing up in St. Albans, West Virginia in a little place called Ventroux Holler. Though she had a challenging upbringing, she remained strong and resilient throughout the most burdensome times in her life. Debbie was married and divorced two times and was blessed with two children, her son Junior Clayton Paul II and daughter Krystal (Pennington) Wagoner. She was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Dorian Wagoner and Arianna Wagoner, both of whom she took extreme pride in.

Debbie got her GED, and she was enormously proud of it. She spent most of her adulthood in West Virginia and moved in with her daughter and grandchildren in 2019. She took so much pride in her sobriety from 2019 – 2024. She enjoyed spending time with her tiny family and watching her favorite television shows. She cherished her friendships with Marcena Hughes and Debbie Smith, along with those who passed before her, James, and her best friend Pete Snyder. She loved spending time with her grand-kitty Xander and her grand-puppy Balor. She will forever be remembered for her enormous heart and her strength to conquer situations in her life that most could never comprehend.

Debbie is survived by her son Clayton Paul; her daughter and son in law Krystal and Jonathan Wagoner; her grandchildren Dorian and Arianna Wagoner; brothers Bruce, Roger and Robert Pennington; and sisters Opal Johnson and Sharon Pennington. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Debbie was not a fan of big funerals and did not wish to be buried, so we have chosen to honor her wishes and have her cremated and continue to celebrate her life everyday by cherishing the time we had with her.
