Gerald (Jerry) DeMonbrun went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18th, 2021. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at Word of Grace Fellowship, 11950 East 350 Highway, Raytown, Missouri 64138. The service will begin at 10:00am. A Livestream of the service will be available at www.facebook.com, scroll to bottom and click on “Watch”, then search “Word of Grace Fellowship”. Immediately following the service, there will be an interment with full Military Honors at Green Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in honor of Jerry DeMonbrun to Word of Grace Fellowship or City Union Mission.
Jerry was born to Lewis and Beulah DeMonbrun on December 21st, 1935. After graduating high school in 1955, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia from October 10th, 1958 to October 7th, 1960 where he received honorary medals and completed his education in Army Administration, Battle Indoctrination, Military Justice and the Geneva Convention as well as worked in Personnel, Pay Records, Passports and Indebtedness. Jerry then transferred to the United States Army Reserves and served at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri until October 9th, 1964, while he completed Business College with a focus on Accounting, Bookkeeping and Business Law.
On October 15th, 1966 he married the love of his life, Marjorie (Margie) at Blue Ridge Bible Church. They had 2 children, Gigi and Jeff. Jerry worked at Armco Steel in Advertising, Personnel and as an Inspector and retired after 32 years. He went on to work for Mallinckrodt Nuclear Medicine and retired after 10 years. He then held various part-time positions to stay active.
Jerry and Margie were long-time members of Word of Grace Fellowship, formerly Blue Ridge Bible Church, where he served in Children’s Ministry, Children's Choir, Adult Choir, Visitation Committee, and wherever needed. Jerry and Margie's involvement was widespread in the community as well. Jerry served at Child Evangelism Fellowship as Vice Chairman, Boardmember and Bookstore Manager, City Union Mission, Good News Club and Youth for Christ Fellowship as an in-Home Club Sponsor and was a Cub Scout Den Leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Jerry and Margie were both instrumental in the birth of Bethel Baptist Church, which is now Tri-City Baptist Church, where Jerry served as Boardmember and Treasurer. Jerry will always be remembered for his love of Christ, his family and his desire to serve others.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Beulah DeMonbrun, his brother Don DeMonbrun and his beloved wife of 54 years, Marjorie (Margie) DeMonbrun. He is survived by his daughter Gigi Rippee and husband Dan of Blue Springs, Missouri, his son Jeff DeMonbrun and wife Adriana of Grain Valley, Missouri, his grandchildren, who knew him as "Papa", Chris Gaverth and wife Jessica, Kelsey Winslow and husband Aaron and Olivia Rippee, of Blue Springs, Missouri and Benjamin and Andrew DeMonbrun of Grain Valley, Missouri, his great grandchildren Aubrey, Jack and Ashlynn, his brother Doug DeMonbrun and wife Linda of Overland Park, Kansas, his sister, Patricia DeMonbrun, of Raytown, Missouri, as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
