Harvey Dale Dempsey

Harvey D. Dempsey, 83, Belton, MO departed on December 7, 2018 at the home, surrounded by his daughters. He was born November 1, 1935 in Osceola, MO to Ferrell and Rose Irene (Keltner) Dempsey.

Harvey met his wife, Mary Ann Haile, when they were children in 1944 and were married on June 1, 1955 in Nevada, MO. They were married 58 years until her death in 2013. This union produced 2 daughters, Denise Gregory and Robin (Carey) Doak, 6 grandchildren, Brayan, Erin, Erick II, Tyler, Kirsten and Michaela, and 3 great grandchildren, Evan, Brennan and Aurora.

After proudly serving in the United States Army, Harvey became skilled in the trade of lathe and plastering, leading to establishing B&H Plastering Co. as owner / operator in 1976 and retiring in 2007. Harvey’s kind and caring demeanor and his ability to never meet a stranger afforded him a successful career and a multitude of friends throughout his life.

Early on, he enjoyed annual vacations and weekends at Pomme de Terre with family and traveling to Europe twice with his wife and sister / brother in law. Harvey loved to be outside and enjoyed snagging, hunting and long drives.

Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother Claud Dempsey. He is lovingly survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, 4 brothers Dennis (Mary) Dempsey, Curtis (Judi) Dempsey, Doug Dempsey and Lynn Dempsey, 3 sisters Carol (Ron) Homfeld, Dorothy (Rodney) Street and Judy Stephens, cousins, several brother / sister in laws on his wife’s side and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation, funeral and burial will be at Park Lawn and Memorial Park in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, December 15 beginning at Noon. We would like to thank Kindred Hospice for their care in providing comfort.
