Kyung Sook was born in Seoul, South Korea on July 25, 1929. After completing her education, she worked in a factory. She and her family experience the disruption of the Korean war fleeing for their lives into the cold winter fields and forest seeking shelter from the farmers. It was after the initial years of the war that she met her late husband, Ralph Delmar Dewey who was serving in the United States Army. The two married on August 16, 1955. Kyung gave birth to her first child, Geneva J. Baker in Seoul Korea, before setting off to the United States of America with Ralph and beginning her permanent residence in this country.
