Donald Lee Slaten, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 23, 1933, in Searcy, Arkansas, Donald was the son of Mamie Lorene Eden and Walter Lee Slaten.
Donald married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Graham, on September 21, 1956, and they shared a beautiful life together until her passing. He is survived by their three children: Delene Halsey (George), Lea Ann Martin (Mike), and Douglas Slaten. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Sarah Rogers (Terry), Phillip Halsey, Donald Slaten, Abigail Strickland (Warren), Stephanie Guenther (Joel), Daniel Slaten, David Slaten, Dylan Slaten (Kristen), Brooke Martin, and Jena Martin. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, and his siblings Sue Murphree and Patsy McNeese. He is survived by his siblings Pansy Allen, Betty Phillips, and Bill Slaten.
Professionally, Donald dedicated 39.5 years of his life to Armco Steel, where he held several positions including a manufacturing Supervisor. His commitment and leadership earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.
Donald's family and friends will deeply miss him, but they will cherish the memories of his love, guidance, and dedication. Services will be held at Park Lawn Chapel on April 2, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the local VFW post or the Macular Degeneration Foundation.
