Dorothy J. Robb

March 20, 1938 — May 18, 2023

Kansas City, Missouri

Dorothy (Dotty) Jean Robb was born on March 20th, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, to parents Otto and Floy Robertson as the youngest of their seven children. During childhood, her love was consumed with dance and ballet, but that all changed at the age of fourteen when she met her soul mate, Gary Wayne Robb. If Dotty was anything, it was a storyteller; one story she cherished and often repeated was the one about how she met her husband, Gary. It was a hot summer morning and Dotty was standing in the driveway of the home she shared with her family, Gary the local paper boy, happened to be distracted this particular morning. While throwing papers he inadvertently hit Dotty, as she was prone to do, she responded feistily. Anyone who knew Dotty knew that she was a spitfire to her core and the rest was history! Dotty and Gary were married on June 29th, 1956. Six years after marrying their first-born son, Gary (Robbie) Wayne Robb Jr was born, followed by Kathey Lynn Robb shortly after. Dotty dove right into motherhood as a stay-at-home mom to her two young children, then received a pleasant surprise nine years later when her third child, Daniel (Dan) Alan Robb, was born. When Dotty’s children were young, she devoted herself to the local PTAs, volunteering at the school, and participated as a Den Mother for her local boy scout’s troop. As her children grew up, Dotty found herself with more time on her hands and returned to the work force, working for Evergreen Lawns, then moving to Parklane Medical Center. Shortly before her retirement from Parklane, Dotty lost her husband, Gary, at the age of 59. After Gary’s passing, Dotty turned to volunteering and fitness to occupy her time. In 2006, through volunteering, she met Paul James, they spent their retirement years together, traveling, listening to blue grass, and enjoying an active lifestyle. Dotty passed away, surrounded by family, and loved ones, on May 18th, 2023. Dotty was proceeded in death by her parents, Otto and Floy Robertson and all six of her siblings. Her husband, Gary, and son, Robbie. She was also proceeded in death by her partner, Paul James. She is survived by her children Kathey and Rick Williams as well as Dan and Angela Robb. All nine of her grandchildren: Erin and Jacob Lords, Ricky and Nikki Williams, Robbie Williams, Michelle Collins and Deron Ginn, and Riley and Niccole Williams. She is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Cole Thompson, Haileigh Thompson, Bentli Monasmith, and Jesse Johnson.
