Douglas M. Schuster

Douglas M. Schuster, 84, of Kansas City Northland, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri. A memorial visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:45 AM prior to the service, followed by a Rosary at 10:45 AM.

Douglas was born on April 14, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to John E. and Marjorie (Peterson) Schuster. He grew up in Lehigh, Iowa and graduated from Otho High School. He attended two years of school at Ft. Dodge Junior College. On July 20, 1968, he was united in marriage to Mary L. Mall at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dixon, Illinois. Together they raised two sons: Chris and Bryan. For the majority of his career, he worked in financial positions for different banks. He served as Vice President of the loan department at Council Bluffs Savings Bank and Bank of Altoona.

Douglas enjoyed tending his garden and growing tomatoes, cooking, but most of all he enjoyed playing golf.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and sister in law, Jan Schuster. He is survived by his wife, Mary Schuster; sons, Chris Schuster and wife Megan, and Bryan Schuster and wife Donna; grandchildren, Grayson, Ava, Jamie, and Grant; sister, Chuckie Russell; brother, Rob Schuster and companion Judy Jerabek; and many nieces and nephews.
