Donald E. Downing

October 22, 1931 — November 23, 2019

Donald E. Downing, 88, was born October 22, 1931 in Deepwater, Missouri with his best day being November 23, 2019, as he joined his Lord and Savior and wife (Aletrice Downing) of 46 years in heaven. He leaves behind his daughter, Donita Downing; grandsons: Samuel Santee V and Christian Sears; his children: Jenny Hammer (James Hammer), Jim Schuman (Carol Schuman), Greg Schuman (Darlene Schuman), Pam Teter (Rob Teter) and Kim Davis; along with many grandchildren; brother in law, Frank Coulter; nephew Mickey Coulter; and his niece Lori Kodanaz (Ahmet Kodanaz).

After graduating high school in Deepwater, Missouri, Donald joined the Navy and served in the Korean War for 3 years. When he returned home, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri to join the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department and retired after 27 years. A few years after retirement, he returned as a Kansas City Fire Inspector for 9 years. Besides his love for his family, Don had many hobbies, to name a few; fishing, bird hunting, play poker or any other card game, his morning crossword puzzle with his dictionary in hand and sitting in his rocker watching any sport games he could find on TV. Let’s celebrate Don’s life and rejoice knowing he lives on in eternal.
