CC Dunlap, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023, at home, with his wife, Shirley, near his side.

CC was born March 25, 1935, in Cravens, Oklahoma, the son of C.C. and Ruby (Williams) Dunlap. The family moved to Huntsville, Missouri, where CC soon graduated from high school. CC attended Hannibal La-Grange University for two years, and later received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University. While studying at Hannibal La-Grange, CC met his future bride, Shirley Broemmer and they married on June 23, 1957, in Hannibal. CC then joined the US Army and the newly married couple moved to Georgia, where he was stationed for two years.

CC’s career as a Civil Engineer with the Missouri Highway Department spanned 37 years. As a project engineer and inspector, his work included the Chain of Rocks bridge in St. Louis and the Hwy 65 By-Pass in Branson, MO. CC and Shirley enjoyed 10 years of retirement life in Rolla, MO and then officially retired to Republic, MO and enjoyed 11 years, residing near their son Danny. CC enjoyed volunteering over 10,000 hours at Rolla's hospital and was a very long-time Red Cross blood donor.

In every community they lived, CC and Shirley were active in their church. They were long-time members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla, MO, then Hope Lutheran Church in Republic, and after moving to Overland Park to live near their daughter Nancy and her family, they attended Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, KS.

Along with his parents, CC was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Bradshaw. CC leaves his wife of 65 years, Shirley; children, Danny Dunlap and Nancy Strange (Brian); grandchildren, Christopher Strange and Lauren Strange.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by funeral services at 2:30 pm, on Monday, January 30, at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee, KS. Burial will be at a later date in Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Great Plains SPCA (https://greatplainsspca.salsalabs.org/memorials/index.html and select Memorial) as CC always loved animals, especially rescue dogs.
