Mary Louise Edmondson

June 5, 1932 — December 7, 2021

Mary Louise (Brewer) Edmondson, the 5thand youngest child of Mack and Jessie Brewer, was born June 5, 1932 on a farm near Boise City, Oklahoma. She grew up in Hugoton, Kansas. On December 7, 2021 she entered her heavenly Home.

In 1952, donned in a red coat, Mary Lou was spotted by a young, red-haired preacher named Kenneth while registering to attend Oklahoma Baptist University. Kenneth quickly secured a date with her through her cousin, Conrad, and arrived driving his red 1950 Dodge Wayfarer convertible. Red became “their” color.

They were married on June 5, 1953 in Hugoton and shared 62 wonderful years together until Kenneth’s death on January 1, 2016. To this union Cathy Lynn, Mark Allen and Michael Reed were born.

When they moved to Bolivar, Missouri in 1959, Mary Lou completed her bachelor’s degree at Southwest Baptist University and went on to teach 4th and 5th grades for 21 years.

She committed her life to serving her Lord, loving her family and enjoying her many dear friends. She had several hobbies which included sewing and needlework, painting, gardening and, especially, quilting. Her family and friends received most of her 50+ beautiful quilts.

She is survived by Cathy and Rick Cole, daughter and son-in-law and Mark and Cathy Edmondson, son and daughter-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Kenneth and their son Michael, her parents and her siblings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the William C. and Clara Edmondson Endowed Scholarship Fund at Southwest Baptist University, 1600 University Avenue, Bolivar, MO 65613 or to Northland Christian School, 10500 N. Arrowhead Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64155.
