Barbara L. Ellis

Barbara L. Barker Ellis, 86, left this world surrounded by her family to begin her eternal life on August 14, 2018. Barbara was born the fourth of eight brothers and sisters on March 23, 1932 to Willis and Jewel Barker. She spent her life loving her family and offering a smile and kind word to everyone she met. Her favorite saying was, “Stop and smell the roses.” Barbara worked for years for the Hickman Mills School District before retiring to travel with her husband, Dan.

Barbara leaves behind two children: Sandy Ellis Simpson and Randy Ellis (Jennifer); two sisters: Berniece Hanes and Brenda Ruark; one brother, Barry Barker; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, daughter Cheryl, and two brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 21 with a visitation at 8:30am, and a service starting at 9:30am. The location of the celebration is Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
